Prednisolone

Long term side effects:

• Insomnia
• Weight gain
• Skin thinning, easy bruising, delayed wound healing
• Gastrointestinal ulceration
• Hypertension
• Muscle weakness
• Immunosuppression
• New-onset diabetes, or reduced control of diabetes
• Reactivation of latent infection (it is now recommended that anyone on prednisolone > 20 mg take prophylactic Bactrim 3 times a week)
• Osteoporosis
